CSI Photography: On TV and in Real Life

Our June meeting features Crime Scene photographers from Hollywood, as well as the real ones! Should be for an interesting mashup between fantasy and reality.

George Reis

George Reis is owner of Imaging Forensics, Inc., providing expert witness services in photography, image analysis and video analysis and also training in these fields. George has worked on cases throughout the US as well as in Canada and the United Kingdom. He has provided training to personnel from the Secret Service, FBI, US Army Crime Lab, Singapore Police Services, and other national, state, county, and municipal agencies throughout the US, Canada and abroad.

George is also the author of "Photoshop CS3 for Forensics Professionals," as well as a White Paper on Adobe's web site regarding image integrity. He formerly was a forensic photographer, image analyst, and crime scene photographer with the Newport Beach Police Department, and has also been a photojournalist, including two years on staff at the Los Angeles Times.

Carol Kaelson

Carol has been shooting television productions for 15 years.

She started her photo career in Dallas, Texas by assisting other photographers. When I began shooting professionally, I did a wide variety of work, magazine, portraiture, commercial, location scouting, events, architecture, and anything I could get my hands on. I think diversity, learning quickly, perseverance, and staying current with new technologies are the qualities that have made me a successful photographer today.

The work that I will be sharing at the June meeting is a collection of crime scene and evidence photography from some of the forensic shows currently on TV (CSI NY, The Defenders, Law and Order LA, Harry's Law, and Criminal Minds). I strive for my images to be realistic, as well as, creative. My photos appear in the body of the show as set dressing, printed photos, computer grabs and TV spots.
